Kids can often turn their heads when it comes to eating fruits and veggies. One way to get them more interested is by making them fun and finger friendly. You can arrange fruits in whimsical ways to make them more appealing. So next snack time try out one of these finger food fruit snacks!
Finger Food Fruit Snacks
Grape Caterpillars – For this snack you will need a bunch of grapes, wooden skewers, and if you want to add fun little eyes some mini chips and a little icing. Simple skewer a bunch of cleaned grapes. Then put two dots of white icing on the front grape. Add a mini chip to each dot and you have a caterpillar ready to eat!
Fruit Skewers – For whatever reason putting fruit on skewers just makes it more fun to eat. Grab any and every fruit you can find or want and put it into a bowl. Give your kids skewers and let them make their own creations! You can even just pull out whatever you have (nothing special) and let the kids have it!
Fruit Rainbow – Rainbows are a whimsical and recognizable thing for kids to create. Try putting out fruits of many colors: Red – strawberries, cherries, raspberries; Orange – cantaloupe, orange; Yellow – banana, pineapple; Green – grapes, kiwi; Blue – blueberries, blackberries. Then have the kids choose their fruits and arrange their rainbows on their plates. Offer them toothpicks for eating and pair with a light fluffy dip like sugar free pudding mix with whipped topping in a 2:1 ratio.
Apple Race Cars – Cut each apple in half, then cut each half in thirds. It is the middle third that you will be using to create your car. Slip 2 toothpicks into each apple wedge to become the car axles. Place grape halves on each side of the toothpick for wheels. (Note: If you aren’t going to eat these right away, then you need to stop the apples from going brown. You can drop your cars into a bowl of water with a squeeze of lemon in it to help prevent them discoloring.)
