CLEP, or College Level Examination Program, is a program offered through the college board in which students who have learned subjects via untraditional means can earn college credit. There are exams offered in five subject areas: history and social sciences, business, mathematics and science, composition and literature, and world languages. These exams are a great way for kids in homeschool high school to earn college credit and potentially graduate from college early and save money on tuition. Studying for this type of exam can seem overwhelming and difficult. Luckily, SD Accelerate offers material on 6 of the offered exams: U.S. History, Chemistry, Biology, Algebra, English Composition, and U.S. Government. So how can you use SDA to study for CLEP exams?

  • Learn and review through vocab, videos, and diagrams: Go over important terms, ideas, and even complex formulas and events. Funny and entertaining videos will ensure that the material sticks and that even when it comes to exam time, students will still remember what they need to. No boring lectures here!
  • Progress and comprehend: Answering thematic questions based on previous learning will help students to think critically about each subject matter, ensuring real comprehension of every topic.
  • Demonstrate: Once they have mastered the material, students can teach parents what they have learned to demonstrate complete understanding of the topics learned. This is yet another great way to make sure that students retain the information they need to know. Full comprehension makes for much better retention than rote memorization will.
  • And for parents?: Editable scoring rubrics, grade reports, progress indicators, and even red flag alerts for problematic topics are all included in the program.
