Fun Valentine’s Day Activities for Homeschoolers

Valentine's Day

Can you believe it’s almost February already? Valentine’s Day is coming up quick, so we’ve got a few fun ideas for activities to get you prepared ahead of time. Check them out:

Melting Chocolate: This activity is simple and quick (and don’t forget delicious).

You’ll need:

  • Milk chocolate
  • Dark chocolate
  • White chocolate (as much as you like for all three)
  • A double boiler
  • Fruit or other snacks to dip in the chocolate when you’re done

What to do:

  • Using the double boiler, melt each kind of chocolate one at a time. Time how long it takes each kind to melt.
  • The dark chocolate should melt the fastest because it is the closest to chocolate’s natural state. The milk in the other two causes the chocolate to melt more slowly by raising the melting point.
  • Eat all of your melted chocolate with the fruit or snacks you’ve chosen!

Heart Hunt:

You’ll need:

  • Paper cut into the shape of hearts (20+)
  • A basket or bag for every participant

What to do:

  • Hide the hearts around your house. Now, these hearts can be decorated any way you like, with fun phrases, etc.
  • Give each one of your kids a basket or a bag and send them off to hunt for the hearts!
  • Make sure you set a time limit and know how many hearts are hidden.
  • Once all of the hearts have been found, have each player count their hearts. Whoever has the most can win a special treat! But feel totally free to give special treats to all of the participants for their efforts!

Heart Towers:

What you’ll need:

  • Candy hearts

What to do:

  • The idea of the game is to see who can construct the tallest tower out of candy hearts. Simple, but harder than it seems.
  • Your kids can get super creative with this one – complicated structures might be a little more stable than a simple stacked tower. No glue or other forms of support allowed!
  • Measure each of the completed towers and name the winner! You can give prizes for both the tallest tower and the most creative tower.

We hope you enjoy all of these fun activities and have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
