With all of the crazy winter weather across the country, now is a great time to do some weather-related science activities with your kids! This particular activity involves making a rain cloud in a cup and is perfect for demonstrating just how all of that snow and rain comes from clouds. Check it out:
What you’ll need:
- A clear cup
- Shaving cream
- Food coloring
What to do:
- Fill the cup with water, only three quarters of the way to the top. The water should be cold and you want to make sure you leave enough room for the shaving cream.
- Fill the rest of the cup up with shaving cream so that it sits on top of the water.
- Put some drops of food coloring on top of the shaving cream and watch as the “rain” comes down through the cloud.
