Being Thankful on Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving coming up next week, now is a great time to do Thanksgiving related activities with your child. Having them discover and embrace all of the aspects of their lives that they are thankful for is a great way to get started. Here’s how:

  • Have your child write down all of the things they are thankful for. This can be anything, big and small, that they appreciate and are grateful for. They can narrow down this list later, but when they are starting out, don’t count out anything that might seem a little silly or too specific at first.
  • Do a creative project involving this list. Your child could make a series of drawings illustrating each of the items they have written down, or just the few that they consider the most important. They could make a small booklet out of these drawings and for each page write down an explanation of why they are grateful for what they have drawn.
  • When your child is finished with this project, it’s a great idea to have them present it at your Thanksgiving dinner, or simply have it displayed for your family to see. This way, your child can feel proud of the work they have done and share their thanks with the people in their lives who they are grateful for.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
